    First thing's first.. This is NOT a 1799/8 as PCGS has indicated on the slab.  This is in fact a rare date 1799 S.189 Draped Bust Large cent, PCGS G details, code 97 for environmental damage.  This is an important offering in spite of the coin's limitations, and may be your best chance to obtain an example of this very rare and popular variety that has great details at a price that won't break the bank.  Typically on a coin in this grade, if LIBERTY is visible, then the date will not be, but here...we have both a date and LIBERTY...and it is the date that is of primary importance.  Enjoy!  Oh, one last time...this is NOT coin number 1446 (1799/8) as PCGS has called it.  It is actually coin number 1443 (1799).
